Bhutan History well preserved

The Museum is located in one of the best viewpoints in Bhutan. The museum mostly consists of cloths of warriors of ancient time of Bhutan history. Must go once for the view from this location. Actually breathtaking. It is a multi storey building and each storey has a story from past to tell.

Priceless collections

The museum houses priceless collection of costumes, paintings, handicrafts, weapons, Armour, jewelry etc. There is a section dedicated to flora and fauna and also a section for history of Bhutan. There are also video presentations of traditional mask dances of Bhutan and also a show on flora and fauna of Bhutan.

There is an entry fee of INR 50/- for entering the museum. Photography inside museum is not allowed and visitors should leave cameras and mobile phones and bags at the security in the entrance.

The museum of Bhutan was housed in a six storied circular Ta Dzong which is a watch National tower above Rinpung Dzong. However due to earthquake caused damage to the structure and the museum is now shifted to a nearby building. The original museum is under renovation now. We were told that many valuable artifacts have been damaged or lost and restoration work is going on. This is a must visit place when visiting Bhutan.
