Ranked 7 of 84 sightseeing in Singapore
The other place that is worth a visit is Chinatown. Originally inhabited by Chinese traders, most of the shop owners and traditional Chinese stuff can be found there. You may visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre, Chinatown Night Market, and Chinatown Food Street that are popular tourist destinations. Some of the malls to check out here are People's Park Complex, OG People's Park, and Pearl's Centre.

Red hot and culturally vibrant Chinatown

Chinatown in Singapore gives a fantastic glimpse into the Chinese culture and is amazing to pick up souvenirs to take back. Great varieties of tea, balm, umbrellas, chopstick. I am a fan of this place now.

Best place for Souvenir Shopping

Chinatown is perhaps the best place to shop for souvenirs. Apart from the Buddha Relic Temple and Mariamman Temple, it also houses a lot of eateries. Visit during days to see the temples and nights for shopping and eating.

A different city in Singapore

The Chinatown has its own mark in Singapore. Starting from the food street, the area is complimented by the street shopping, the tooth relic temple, China point and the whole lot of cheap chinese hotels and restaurants, souvenir shops. A must visit to this place if you have a day to spare.

Nice place like India

This place resembled India with heavy crowd. Lots of shopping. Very similar to India. Small items for sale. Good prices and good bargains.

Excellent food (has veg options for Indians) at this Chinatown

The food street smells chinese food all along, but the centre of this street is one shop selling Indian food with veg options too. I had parathas with Dal (compliment) which were excellent and went back thrice to have the same, while my wife tried other veg options (biryani, rice, roti etc). Never missed indian food being in this part of the city :)

Good place to see old china town

It was a great experience with free WiFi around that place. Also - Thian Hock Keng Temple is one of Singapore's oldest and most eye opening temples. Dedicated to my Cho Po, goddess of the sea, it was built by early Chinese Hokkien immigrants in gratitude for safe passage to Singapore.

Lot of shopping, good places around

Visit the food street with good food and Indian cuisine too. This street is surrounded by shopping streets again, find the Buddha temple and Kaliamman temple around (day time). This street opens up from the Chinatown metro on the smith street side. Cheap hotels around for a cosy stay.

If you are planning to go to Singapore for a holiday, do plan for Chinatown. This is the best place to buy gifts for your near and dear ones. Gift items like chinese feng shui gift items, antique show pieces, key rings, purse, chinese umbrellas etc. All types of chinese food and Chinese spa are also available here at nominal rates.
