14.3/5(1 Rating)
Ranked 32 of 84 sightseeing in Singapore

Fort Siloso dates back to the period of World War II. It is the only restored battery out of the 12 coast artillery batteries which made up ‘Fortress Singapore’ during the war. The fort is located on the western tip of the island. It is one of four coastal gun batteries constructed by the British in the country.

The fort is divided into 3 zones, including The Red Zone, The Yellow Zone and The Blue Zone. The Red Zone contains exhibits that provide an insight into the fall of Singapore to Japan during World War II.

The Yellow Zone displays a soldier's life story at the fort during the war. The Blue Zone is actually a tunnel that leads to the gun tower of the British soldiers.

The fort can be reached from Singapore by taking the Mass Rapid Transit to the Harbourfront Station. From the Harbourfront Station, one can take a bus to the Harbourfront bus interchange. The buses that operate for this sight from Harbourfront bus interchange are 30, 65, 80, 97, 100, 131, 145, 166 and 855.

Reliving the Second World War

Possibly the best Second World War museum that you can get closest home, i.e. India. Check this for for the excellent relics from the Great War. But what is most amazing is the display technique which in some cases allows you to get the 'smell of the war!'
