The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, locally known as Tokyo Tochosha, is the tallest building in Tokyo, standing at 248 m. It is the headquarters of the government of 23 wards plus the cities, towns and villages that comprise Tokyo as a whole.

The building comprises a complex of three structures, each of which takes up a city block. Of the three, the Tokyo Metropolitan Main building No.1 is most prominent.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Main building No.1 is a 45-storey tower, which splits into two sections at the 33rd floor. On floor 45, there are two observation decks, one in each tower, which can be visited free of charge.

The other two buildings in the complex are 8-storey Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly Building and Tokyo Metropolitan Main Building No.2, which has 37 stories. This site is only a short walk from Shinjuku Station.
