I truly do not have the words to express the amazing vacation that was planned for me by my sister. I had very busy schedule so I knew I would need help planning my trip, but I sure who I could trust. This vacation was truly a vacation of a lifetime for me. Every day I was amazed by what I saw, what I ate and all the new places I went. I made great memories that will last a lifetime and I am beyond grateful to my sister for helping me make all these amazing memories!

Nice place to visit

Washington DC a lovely city to visit in USA. Cherry blossom time in March it's too nice, all trees fully covered with flowers, it's so nice. Capital house management buildings with old architecture also very interesting. Early morning it's too nice to drive because of less traffic. Try Washington DC. It's not much expansive city. Surely you can enjoy.

Washington-DC Overview

Washington, D.C. is the capital of the United States of America. Formally known as the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. was named after George Washington, who was the first President of the United States.

A unified government rules over the District of Columbia and the city of Washington and hence, both of these are considered to be a single entity. Washington, D.C. is home to the centres of all three branches of the US federal government.

Located on the north bank of the Potomac River, this city is bordered by the states of Maryland and Virginia. The tributaries of the Potomac River, Anacostia River and Rock Creek bisect the city.

Washington, D.C. sprawls over an area of 177 sq. km, out of which 159 sq. km is land and rest 18 sq. km is covered with water. According to the archaeological evidences, Native Americans settled near the Anacostia River around 4000 years ago.

The city was chosen as a site for the capital of the United States by George Washington, the first president of the United States. British forces captured and burned the capital city during the War of 1812. After this episode, which was known as the Burning of Washington, reconstruction of public buildings like the White House and United States Capitol started.

In 1968, the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. resulted in major riots among African American neighbourhoods. Slavery, which was once the biggest concern of the city, was abolished from the district on April 16, 1862.

Today, Washington, D.C. is governed by a mayor and a 13-member city council. The city hosts 176 foreign embassies along with the headquarters of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Inter-American Development Bank and the Pan American Health Organization are also located in the city.

The Washington Metropolitan Area is inhabited by around 5.6 million people. Of the total population, 50.7% of people are African Americans, 38.5% are whites, 3.5% are Asian, and 0.3% are American Indians.

Washington, D.C. is home to several tourist attractions like the Capitol, White House and the Library of Congress. The best time to visit the city is during spring season, from April to May. Holiday makers can also plan to visit Washington, D.C during fall season.
